First
Time Freezing Tips
Sometimes it is
a little bit difficult to snap the molds into the freezing tray the first
time they are used. To make it easier, spray the freezing tray with
non-stick cooking spray.
To make it easier to
snap the molds into the tray, snap the molds in and out of the freezing
tray three or four times before freezing for the first time. |

Releasing
Molds After Freezing
Let the
ShotRocks sit upside down for 15-20 minutes depending on the room
temperature. Allowing the ice to begin to melt will allow the ShotRock to
easily release from the freezing tray and keep the ShotRock lip from
chipping.

Freezer
Capacity
Different
Freezers have different freezing capabilities. Under normal conditions,
ShotRocks should take 4-6 hours to freeze. With a heavy duty commercial
freezer, freezing time could be reduced to 1-2 hours.
With a
large number of ShotRocks (80+ trays) and a residential freezer it could
take up to 24 hours. If you are planning a special promotion or party,
test your freezer ahead of time.
Note: A
nine (9) cubic foot residential chest freezer will hold about 80 ShotRock
trays (320 ShotRocks). The trays on the outside and the bottom will freeze
first. It will take about 24 hours to freeze all the ShotRocks solid. |

Make
Sure the 'Rocks are Frozen
Since ShotRocks freeze from the outside in, you need to make
sure that you allow enough time for the ShotRocks to become completely
frozen. If you don’t allow enough time you will have solid ice on the
outside with a slushy center. If you pour alcohol into a ShotRock like
this, the shooter will melt the center of the ShotRock and drip out the
bottom.

If
Your Rocks "Pop" in the Freezer
Depending on the speed that your ice freezes, your ShotRocks may try to
lift the molds off the freezing tray during the freezing process. If you
have this problem, simply stack something on top of the freezing tray
while the 'Rocks are freezing. Another set of ShotRocks works great or use
a frozen food box (I like those frozen Pot Pies.) This little bit of extra
weight makes a big difference. |
|
Flat
Bottoms
All ice freezes uneven on the top (which is the bottom of the ShotRock.)
As a result, the serving tray has been designed to hold the ShotRocks
level for pouring and serving. But, if you want to freeze your ShotRocks
with flat bottoms, fill the ShotRocks almost full with water and place a
frozen food box on top of the tray while freezing. The water will expand,
lift the box, spill the excess water and freeze flat with the box still
sitting on top. Try it… it works great! |
